Open to Hermione, Ron, and Blaise if he returns
Harry's tired, heavy eyes followed Blaise as he stepped out of the potions room. Already having noticed that Malfoy had yet to make an appearance, Harry had little doubt in his mind as to where Blaise was headed.

He shook his head as he dropped his eyes back down to the task in front of him, but his gaze wouldn't focus, and he nearly chopped off his fingertip when he entirely missed the head of one of many assorted bugs that lay scattered, but very much dead on his desk.

"Harry!" He heard Hermione exclaim from the right side of Ron. "Pay attention. I may have a spell to fix your glasses, but replacing your hand isn't as easy."

The raven haired Griffindor felt himself make a sound that was somewhat close to a whimper, before putting down the knife and cupping his exhausted face in his hands.  "What in the name of Merlin have I gotten myself into?"

He only realised that his words were spoken out loud when he felt Ron's eyes on him. "What's that you said?"
Harry gave him a withered glance, but said nothing. Instead his eyes drifted beyond him, to rest on Hermione, who was sending him worried glances. "Herm," he said in almost a whisper. "Do you think I should talk to Zabini?"

Hermione sighed quietly. Harry had told her all about his little run-in with Malfoy the previous night and she didn't know what to tell him.

"How would that help?" she whispered. "I don't think Blaise is going to have anything to say. I thought you were going to talk to him last night."

Her eyes rested intently on Harry, waiting for him to come up with some sort of plan. She was still a little upset at the way he had lashed out at her the night before.

Harry sensed Hermione's brittleness in her words, and gave her a waning look. "I'm sorry, Herm," he sighed. "And I don't know how it would help. I'm kind of resorting to desperate measures here."
Then with a sigh, he muttered, "And I suppose I should be appologising for being a royal git last night. I shouldn't have taken out my frustration on you."

"Yes, you should," she said primly, glancing up at Snape to make sure he was indeed occupied. "But otherwise, Harry, I don't see how Blaise can help. I think you need to talk to Malfoy."

She picked up her knife and began slicing the caterpillars into millimeter size pieces while her potion bubbled before her.

"I know you're right," Harry mumbled. "I mean, bloody hell, you're always right," he added with a bit of a teasing scowl. "But I wouldn't know what to say. Or where to start. Or how to approach him. Or how long I should wait. Or should I even wait for him to say something first? Not that I can see him setting aside his overly large ego long enough to do that. He's just so-"

Harry stopped abruptly at the look on Hermione's face. He hoped to Merlin there was more on the edge of her lips than just a scolding for him to shut up, and with any luck, maybe a little bit of direction, which he felt he desperatly needed.

"Harry, do be quiet," she admonished him, knowing full well that Snape would love to give any one of them a detention for not paying attention. She sighed as she caught sight of his forlorn look. "First, I'd make sure that he even remembers what happened last night. If he really was as drunk as you say, he might not even remember. Secondly, don't be so nervous. He's probably thinking the same thing as you. And thirdly--" She stopped suddenly as Snape swooped over, looking down his long nose at her potion and scowling.

When he could find nothing wrong, he moved away to criticise Ernie's potion instead. Hermione let out a small breath she'd been holding and leaned closer to Harry, lowering her voice. "Thirdly, don't make this more than it is. Take some time and figure out what you want and what you think is possible. It's always better to be prepared."

Harry's brow furrowed as he listened to what Hermione had to say. "Not remember?" he whispered to her, still eyeing Snape to ensure he was out of hearing distance. "How could he not? I mean it was, there was, we-" he made a few violent gestures with his hands. "fucked!"

Harry bit his tongue until he drew blood, when he realised how loud he had spat out the semi vulgar word. A few students around him gave his strange looks, and his gaze swiveled to Snape, who fortunately hadn't noticed. Harry was actually beginging to wonder if Snape was ignoring him on purpose.

As he began to turn his attention to Hermione, his eyes landed on an only vaguely familar face. Sitting next to Padma, was one of the new ravenclaws, and despite the fact that he was rather attractive, Harry felt a little odd when he caught him staring at him.
The second their eyes met, however, the boy had looked away, and after only a few lingering moments of watching the back of his head, Harry did too.

Then, another thought occured to him. "Wait. What do you mean don't make more of this than what it is? We already know he has feelings for me, and we did, after all, just have the most amazing sex of my life. I already know what I want, and if I didn't before, I certainly do after last night."
Hermione Grangerelf_liberator19 on January 3rd, 2007 06:22 pm (UTC)
"I simply meant that it's not just Malfoy involved," Hermione said, sighing heavily as snapped at her. "What about Bastian? Now, I know he's odd, but he seems to like you too."

She fixed Harry with a pointed stare, setting down her knife. "Who do you want to hurt, Harry? Malfoy likes you, yes, but so does Bastian. And I know you said the sex was... amazing, but," she sighed again, picking up the knofe and chopping off the head of a caterpillar a little more violently than was necessary, "sex doesn't make a relationship."

She stared down at her caterpillar, her mind wandering to Blaise, who had left some time ago and still not returned. She hadn't told Harry what had happened the night before yet. She had intended to, but his news about Malfoy had overshadowed everything else.

Harry's mouth opened to speak, but at first, only a few vowel sounds came out. He tried again.

"B-Bastian?" He sighed. "I don't know, Herm." Harry trailed off, mind wandering to the endearingly strange young student. His gaunt, structured face was fixed with piercingly icy blue eyes, above a delicate nose, and perfect pink lips. This time, Harry's sigh turned into somewhat of a suffocated moan. "I like him too. Alot. But - but I...I just don't know. Malfoy's been in the picture about 257 times longer than Sebastian has. And I know I'm not the only one Sebastian's interested in."
Hermione Grangerelf_liberator19 on January 14th, 2007 07:37 pm (UTC)
"How do you know that?" Hermione whispered. "What if he only likes you? Are you really willing to hurt him? And I know Malfoy's been around longer, but, well, he's always been a prat. How do you know he's going to change? What if he doesn't and you've thrown away what you could have had with Bastian for nothing?" She sighed and stirred her potion slowly, watching it turn blue. "I'm not trying to be mean, but we both know what Malfoy's like. Maybe he's not capable of loving anyone besides himself."

She glanced at Harry, who was wearing an indiscernable expression. She couldn't tell if he was angry or sad. She sighed. "Do you want me to ask Blaise? Or are you going to? I'll do it if you want, but I don't know how much comfort you'll get out of it."

Thoughts of Sebastian tossed around in his head, and the more he thought about it, the less he felt sure as to what was more important in this situation.

As he glanced around the room, as if in an effort of finding the solutions to his convoluted problems, he was caught off guard as someone dashed into the room, and headed straight for where Harry and Hermione were seated.
Blaise Zabini: Jaggedstygian_blaise on January 26th, 2007 06:33 pm (UTC)
Taking only a split second to locate who he was looking for, Blaise made a beeline for two familiar Griffindors. The entire class watched as he grabbed Harry's arm, (who, thankfully, was shocked into silence,)leaned in and left a soft kiss on Hermione's lips, whispered something about being right back, and began to somewhat violently escort the raven haired boy out of the room.

The reason as to why Snape did nothing aside from give them both a bored, and slightly disgusted sneer, was something that Blaise made a mental note of looking into, later.

Once outside the door, he shoved Harry against the dungen wall and held his shoulders there, an angered look on his face.

Significantly distracted by Blaise's show of affection towards Hermione, Harry could only devote a small portion of his thoughts to hy in Merlin's name the taller Slytherin had him pinned to the cold, jarring wall.

"What do you want, Zabini?" Harry spat. "And WHAT exactly happened in there with Hermione?" He crossed his arms, eyes narrowing in suspision.

Blaise opened his mouth with every intention of immediately begining his interrogation of Harry about what he now knew of what had happened the night before with Draco, but at the Griffindor's spitting question, Blaise halted mid word and frowned.

"What are you going on about, Potter?"

"Your tongue in my best friend's mouth," an alarmed Harry shot. "THAT's what I'm going on about!"

To Harry's appeared surprise, instead of worsening his urgent mood, the question seemed to almost cool Blaise, who leaned back and crossed his arms, removing his grip from Harry as he gave the smaller boy a testing look.

"We're going out. Does that bother you, Golden Boy?"

From the look on Harry's face, he took that the thought of Hermione and Blaise dating did get under Harry's skin, so the Slytherin made a last minute adjustment of phrasing.

"No, let me rephrase that. My question is, are you planning on giving me a hard time about it? because I know you can't be to pleased about Herm and I but to be honest, I don't give two shits about what you think."

Jack looked away quickly as Harry's glance landed on him. He didn't want the other boy to think he was staring. Instead, he turned back to his potion and added the powdered griffin claw. The surface hissed and turned a bright pink, exactly where it ought to be.

The professor swooped down on him, eyeing his cauldron carefully, almost as if grudgingly angry that nothing was wrong. Jack gave a small shrug to Padma as the professor swooped away. He didn't know what was wrong. His attention wandered again as he stirred the potion for the alloted 5 minutes.

His eyes went back to Harry, who was still whispering to Hermione.

From his seat next to Padma, Jack watched interestedly as the boy Padma had told him was Harry Potter whispered to his friend. With a glance at the professor, who didn't look the lenient type, he wondered why the Potter boy was willing to risk getting in trouble.

Despitebeing new, he had been able to tell something was off upon entering the classroom that morning. To his relief, Seamus was not in the N.E.W.T. level potions class, so that was one less thing he had to worry about.

"He does that alot," Padma whispered, without so much as a glance upwards. She sensed Jack's somewhat surprised look, but she figured he was getting used to her intuitiveness with him by now. She'd known him well enough and long enough, that reading his mind was practically second nature. "He spends most of his time in class talking or making eyes at Malfoy, and then gets Hermione to do his homework for him later."

Padma paused for a moment, finishing off the notes on the board, and waiting until Snape's darting eyes dropped back down to the papers on his desk. "I keep telling that girl to let him do his own work, but she's so anal retentive about the work not getting done, that she just does it for him in the end anyway."
